About Me

The Truncated Mari Bio

I was born and grew up in a small town in the Midwest. We lived right next to a monocultured field of corn up until I was 14 years-old. I can remember being young and standing outside to watch the crop duster planes fly over the field. At the time, I thought it was cool. I have come to realize growing up in that location probably had a lot to do with my current health problems.

Now I'm all grown up and still live in the Midwest. Unfortunately I still live in a town completely surrounded by monocultured GMO corn. Hopefully one day soon that will change. I would love to get away from this poisoned area.

I've been married for 8 years. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I enjoy cooking, gardening and I volunteer as a chapter leader for the Weston A. Price Foundation.

I became interested in whole foods nutrition through a friend and now I would never turn back. My life and health have greatly improved since changing my diet. I can quite happily eat loads of good saturated fat and keep my weight down by avoiding unnecessary grain based carbs. I have come to find out I am gluten intolerant, as many people are, without ever knowing. Fat has been demonized by our society, but look at the people of long ago. They ate more fat and less grain and sugar all while working hard without our current diseases. We eat less fat, more grain and sugar, and pay for it with obesity and health problems.

I am also a certified Master Herbalist. I believe in healing through natural means. I like raising herbs and making my own herbal remedies. I also enjoy making cold process soap, candles, jam, cheese, wine, lacto-fermented soda, and lacto-fermented foods.
